About Our Venison
Low in fat, low in cholesterol , full of flavour , rich in omega 3 and almost organic.
At Lavenham Butchers our Venison is wild, local to our farmland and woodlands, ranging from Red, Fallow, Roe and Muntjac depending on what is in season we sell it all.
Our whole ethos of opening the shop was really to showcase Wild Meat, Greg qualified some years ago as a Deerstalker Jen joined him 2017, they are both so passionate about sourcing Wild Meat protecting flora and fauna and eating a hugely sustainable meat, that’s low in fat rich in Omega 3 with barely any food miles!

They can tell you the whole story literally from “field to fork” the woodland, meadow, corn field to the kind of food it had been grazing on.
Championing Venison
The real deal is that the deer numbers are massively on the increase due to the fact that they have no natural predators in the wild.
Deer management is vital to maintain the natural flora and fauna of our beautiful ancient woodlands. The farmlands also need to be protected as the deer will decimate oil seed rape fields, orchards, allotments anything they have access to. Muntjac are renowned for clearing five foot fences, so even these won’t keep them at bay!
